Amid the global wave of technological and economic development, low-altitude economy is rising at an unprecedented pace. As a comprehensive economic form centered on low-altitude flight activities and driving integrated development across multiple sectors, it covers drone logistics, urban air mobility, agricultural and forestry plant protection, emergency rescue, and other fields, boasting enormous market potential and promising prospects. Relevant data shows that China’s low-altitude economy is expected to exceed one trillion yuan by 2025 and surpass three trillion yuan by 2035, becoming a new engine for high-quality economic development.
On May 15, OCM held a new low-altitude power battery launch event at its CIBF booth. Xu Zhongling, President of the Central Research Institute, delivered an in-depth interpretation of the company’s strategic layout and technological achievements in this sector.
Forward-looking Layout to Seize Industry Opportunities
In this blue ocean full of opportunities and challenges, batteries, as the “heart” of low-altitude aircraft, directly define the upper limit of industry development and thus pose unprecedented demands on battery technology. With nearly 30 years of expertise in the lithium battery industry, OCM, a leading enterprise, has entered the low-altitude economy sector ahead of schedule relying on profound technical accumulation and sharp market insights. It has rapidly launched aircraft battery products for drones, industrial inspection, urban air mobility, and other scenarios. Technologically, the company has achieved in-depth innovation. Its first-generation aviation power battery, “O·Yunxiao 1.0” (energy density ≥ 320Wh/kg), is in mass production and has completed a 100-kilometer flight test on a 100kg-class aircraft.
Technological Breakthroughs to Forge Core Products
In product iteration, OCM continues to make breakthroughs and has launched “O·Yunxiao 2.0” with an energy density of 360Wh/kg. It also innovates soft solid-state battery technology featuring high specific energy, high power, high safety, and wide temperature adaptability, widely applicable to urban mobility, agricultural and forestry plant protection, emergency rescue, material transportation, and more, providing reliable power support for low-altitude aircraft. In addition, OCM has developed a large cylindrical platform for aircraft tailored to different scenarios. Adopting a high-nickel high-silicon chemical system and lightweight structural design, these batteries deliver high energy density, high safety, high-power discharge, and fast charging. They perfectly meet the high-rate charge-discharge needs of aircraft, achieving 80% SOC in just 10 minutes of charging, greatly improving operational efficiency and eliminating user range anxiety.
Future Planning to Lead Industry Development
Looking ahead, OCM has a clear and firm innovation roadmap for the low-altitude power sector. The company has outlined a five-generation technology upgrade plan, targeting an energy density of over 500Wh/kg for all-solid-state batteries by 2027. This milestone will significantly enhance core performance such as endurance and power of low-altitude aircraft, expand application scenarios, and unlock broader growth for the low-altitude economy.Furthermore, OCM will actively participate in formulating industry standards and regulations for low-altitude economy. Leveraging its technological strengths and industry influence, it will promote standardized and healthy development, and collaborate with upstream and downstream partners to build a sound industrial ecosystem.
With solid technical foundation, sustained innovation capabilities, and clear development strategies, OCM is establishing a leading position in low-altitude economy batteries. As the industry booms, OCM is poised to leverage its technological edge and contribute more to the prosperity of the low-altitude economy.
